Mr Fears, I am very sorry to hear that you were disappointed in our companies ability to service your garage door issue. All of our technicians are certified and trained, and are very knowledgeable when it comes to repair of existing garage doors. Existing garage doors that have extensive wear and tear can be problematic when repairing, and technicians will always recommend replacement of the door if they feel that the repair cost is too high to justify, and/or if they feel the repair could still leave the door unsafe. We pride ourselves on being able to evaluate the customers need and will always give our customers our best recommendation. Garage doors are the largest opening in a home, and are responsible for protecting the home in storm situations. Any door installed prior to March 15th of 2012 may not meet the Florida Building Code or the code enforced by local municipalities. It is our responsibility to inform the customer if we believe that a new garage door would be a better option then repairing the existing door that may have extensive wear and tear. Repairman spoke with my tenant and refused to repair door, told tenant door needed to be replaced, old springs, cables ect. Springs were replaced approximately 5 years and cables within the past year. Quoted $1300 for replacement, wow. Believe he was trying to pull a fast one. The least he could have done is evaluate the current problem and a estimate to repair. I suggested it was the screw drive carriage but according to my tenant, (a highly respected p.e. lineman) he could have cared less.
